The Port Sunlight 10K and 5K The Port Sunlight 10K and 5K started back in 2014 and is set in the idyllic village of Port Sunlight. The village was built originally in 1888 to house William Hesketh Lever’s ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers, but today is home to beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community. The village provides not only a unique and picturesque backdrop for runners but an ideal environment for a family day out - which is why the 10K and 5K races have been joined on race day by a 1K for kids to take part in so everyone can get involved. The start and finish area sits alongside local landmarks, such as the impressive central fountain, the Lady Lever Art Gallery and the Port Sunlight Museum, with the route then a network of roads sending runners out on twists and turns into the corners of the village. With the 5K setting off at 10.00am over a single lap, the 10K then starts at 11.00am over two laps, so there's plenty of running for the spectators to watch as 1,000s of runners chase down fast times.
