I didn't recognise Merfyn the first time I saw him in ITU back in February 2023. He fought every minute of every day. The wires and tubes were everywhere and the Nurses quietly monitored progress. Once out of ITU every move from ward to ward was a positive move. It was identified early on that Merfyn had a sparkle in his eye and would benefit from moving to the Sid Watkins Building. Staff continued to bring Merfyn on and by the summer he was transferred to the Clatterbridge Rehabilitation. Merfyn has continued to fight and do everything he could to get home. Standing for the first time in October 2023. 11 months and 9 days in hospital and rehabilitation. Two years at home. We've always looked to celebrate at 3 years. Merfyn is also going to brave the shave on Friday 20th February at Hazel Court Rhuddlan. Merfyn Hughes
