Fundraising for Family Accommodation - in memory of Arthur Ellinson Donate I'm fundraising for The Walton Centre Charity because...When Dad/Art was being treated at The Walton Centre last year and over Christmas, he received absolutely excellent care. We as a family were also given tremendous support - in so many ways, and particularly by provision of a room on site - part of their “Home from Home” accommodation. Being able to have a few hours of sleep here and there during that time made it possible for us children to stay close in the hardest time we've ever experienced. Leaving his side, driving to and from North Wales daily / every night would have been so painful; it could even have been dangerous. Instead, because of Home-from-Home, we were able to spend precious time with him and be together to support him and one another. I will never be able to thank all the staff at the hospital enough, across all departments - and to those who maintain and to those who support Home-from-Home service - thank you so much. During their lifetimes, our kind Dad (and Mum) helped lots of families set up home when they first moved to Wrecsam, offering practical help of all kinds. I have no doubt they would both be deeply grateful to all at The Walton Centre for looking after us, and as they continue to do the same for other families. Dad/Art would have been celebrating his 80th birthday this week, so to honour him and raise funds I am taking part in this charity challenge. I’ll get to marvel at Dad’s beloved home city at the same time with a ‘Liver bird’s eye view!” I hope the idea of me dangling over the docks would give him a good giggle too.Celebrating our dear Dad & legendary GP, Arthur EllinsonWith huge thanks to all the amazing staff and volunteers at The Walton Centre in Liverpool.INFO:Home from Home scheme:https://www.thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk/visiting-a-patient/home-from-home-accommodation.htmAbout The Walton Centre:The Walton Centre in Liverpool offers a world class neuroscience service which includes many pioneering techniques, cutting edge treatments; and clinicians who are international leaders in their field.
