Myself and Paul Cunningham are running from The Walton Centre to Southport Spinal Unit Donate Unfortunately on the 19th January my mum (Beverley Burtenshaw) fell down the stairs and broke her neck in numerous places and severed her spinal cord. She was blue lighted straight over to The Walton centre spinal unit from The Countess of Chester Hospital. She underwent a 7 hour operation to repair her neck and spinal cord. She has minimal movement which is improving a little each day with the fantastic help from the physios and occupational therapists. She is being transferred to Southport Spinal Unit for intense rehabilitation, hopefully with the aim being getting mum home. The staff on the ward have been amazing keeping my mums spirits up with the banter. The staff aren't only there for the patient, they are there to support and help the family and friends too.For the past months its been home from home to myself and my brother. They have been there when we have struggled emotionally. lisa burtenshaw Manage Cookie Preferences
