Charity supporters raise over £5,000 at this year's BTR Liverpool Half!

Thanks to the incredible determination and generosity of this year’s Liverpool Half Marathon runners, an outstanding £5,145 has been raised to support staff, patients, and their families at The Walton Centre.

Among those taking part were siblings Alice and Fraser Young, who took on the challenge to thank the hospital for the care and support their nan received after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit last June, following a serious fall at home. Reflecting on their experience, Fraser said: "If it wasn't for the incredible efforts of the staff at The Walton Centre, our Nan may not be with us right now.”

Also taking part was supporter Jack Forshaw, who ran in memory of his cousin, Duncan Browne. Jack took on the half marathon to give back for the care Duncan received after a vicious attack in 2021. Tragically, Duncan later passed away due to the severity of his injuries. Despite the heartbreak, Jack spoke of the compassion shown by staff during an incredibly difficult time: “The Walton Centre were nothing short of amazing in how they cared for Duncan and supported our family after his passing.”

Paul Crosbie, alongside the team from Elevate Fitness (Wirral), also laced up their running shoes to give back for the care and support their friends and family have received at the hospital. In a touching moment this week, Paul and his son Chris visited The Walton Centre to celebrate Chris’ remarkable recovery and present a cheque marking their fundraising achievement.

A huge thank you goes out to Fraser, Alice, Paul, Jack, and the incredible team from Elevate Fitness for their amazing support and fundraising.
